Colombia's construction sector is placing sustainability at the center of its agenda, and Construverde 2026 made that shift visible. Organized by the Colombia Green Building Council (CCCS), of which Sinfranova is a member, Construverde is the region's most important gathering for sustainable and resilient construction, bringing together public and private leaders, multilateral institutions, and technical experts to advance the agenda for greener, more resilient cities across Latin America and the Caribbean.  This year's edition placed sustainable infrastructure at an important point in the conversation, a clear sign of how far the sector has come in the region.

Cristina Contreras, CEO & Founder of Sinfranova, and Ana María Landaeta, Technical Sustainability Expert, joined the three-day agenda, taking part in panel discussions on climate finance, governance, and resilient infrastructure, and joining a technical visit to the Carrera Séptima Green Corridor in Bogotá.

Among the sessions attended, some conversations focused on financing projects with sustainable attributes, discussing how climate and sustainability criteria are increasingly shaping investment decisions in infrastructure across the region. Speakers made the case that discounted financing rates have become a principal mobilizer of sustainable infrastructure projects in the sector, and highlighted how these projects have driven innovation around materiality, and around working closely with communities and academia.

Discussions on resilient infrastructure, including the session "Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure: From Vision to Implementation," featuring the Concesión ALO Sur team, Carrera Séptima Green Corridor and Anthony Kane from ISI, highlighted how projects across Colombia and the region are moving from principle to practice, integrating climate resilience, biodiversity, and community wellbeing directly into project design and delivery.

One of the key messages from the event: sustainable infrastructure is not more expensive, it is more effective.

The event also included a technical visit to the Carrera Séptima Green Corridor, Colombia's first Envision-verified infrastructure project, offering a firsthand look at how sustainability standards are being put into practice on a major urban corridor.
