Alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
In 2015, the 193 United Nations Member States adopted 17 global goals and targets to be achieved by 2030. These 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) cover the three dimensions of sustainable development: economy, social development, and environment. Given the impact infrastructure has on these three dimensions, it plays a crucial role in achieving these global commitments. As such, this course will help you understand the impact infrastructure has on sustainable development and how rethinking and changing how infrastructure is designed, built, and operated is vital to achieving the SDGs.
The course reflects on the importance of the SDGs and the role infrastructure has in their achievement. Given your role as an infrastructure stakeholder, we will guide you on how to align your project or institution’s sustainability strategy and goals with the SDGs, thus ensuring you are an active contributor to achieving the 2030 Agenda.
