Pedaling for the Future: a Fundraising Campaing to Support Trips for Kids

Coinciding with the United Nations World Bicycle Day, members and supporters of Sinfranova biked from Washington, D.C. to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal and the Great Allegheny Passage. Coined as the #PedalingfortheFuture, the ride covered a total distance of 333 miles (535 kilometers) in five days.

The group biked to raise funds for Trips for Kids – a philanthropic organization that exposes kids to cycling experiences to “promote recreational lifestyles, environmental awareness, and personal empowerment.” Trips for Kids' mission closely aligns with that of Sinfranova’s: advocating for environmental preservation, accessible mobility, and sustainability.

Thanks to the help and generosity of Sinfranova’s donors and supporters, the Pedaling for the Future campaign raised a total of $2,027. The entirety of the funds raised were utilized to refurbish 13 second-hand bikes, thus providing a second life for used bikes that would otherwise end up in landfills.

Specifically, Sinfranova’s campaign efforts have gone directly to 13 kids of Tarrant County, TX. The cost of bikes, helmets, locks, lights, and shipping have been covered by our donors’ generous support. “We wish everyone could see the smiles on our youth when they complete this program and receive their bicycles. For many, this will be the first bicycle they ever receive. We are so grateful that Sinfranova believes in our programming and the work we are doing throughout the country,” shared RJ Heckelman, Trips for Kids Director of Partnerships and Resources.

The “Pedaling for the Future” initiative arose as part of Sinfranova’s commitment to providing access to sustainable transportation, ensuring nature preservation, and promoting social justice. As a sustainable infrastructure company that aims to address the shortcomings of climate change in an urban environment, we see the promotion of non-motorized transportation as an integral part of a greener future.

But this campaign not only reflects Sinfranova’s goals regarding sustainable infrastructure but also our sustainable development objectives. Among some of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aligned with this campaign are “SDG3: Good health and well-being” by promoting healthier habits and a more active lifestyle and “SDG13: Climate Action” by providing access to low-carbon transportation systems. SDGs play an important role in Sinfranova’s mission and interaction with our clientele. We aim to uphold these goals in every aspect of our projects.
