The consortium formed by Grupo de Análisis para el Desarrollo (GRADE), The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and the Wildlife Conservancy Society (WCS), with the support of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, has launched the book "Sustainable Infrastructure in Perú: Challenges and Opportunities for Planning" (Infraestructura sostenible en el Perú: Retos y oportunidades para su planificación, published in Spanish).
This publication is the result of a collaborative effort between the three previously mentioned institutions. The book compiles the main findings and lessons learned from over two years of research conducted by national and international consultants on infrastructure planning in Perú, with a particular focus on integrating environmental and social sustainability, as well as a territorial approach, into future National Infrastructure Plans.

Sinfranova team members Cristina Contreras and Ana Navarrete are among the 15 contributing authors. In chapter III: "Sustainability in infrastructure projects from the electricity and transport sectors in Perú" (La sostenibilidad en los proyectos de infraestructura de los sectores electricidad y transportes en el Perú), both authors analyze the costs associated with the inadequate or insufficient integration of sustainability into infrastructure development, while also highlighting the benefits of adopting a more sustainable approach. Based on lessons learned throughout the study, the chapter outlines a series of opportunities for improvement and recommendations to advance the integration of sustainability into infrastructure projects in Peru.

Book presentation event
The book was officially presented on May 22nd, 2025, during an event held in Lima that brought together over 50 representatives from the public and private sectors, as well as academia.

The presentation event included two roundtable discussions with the book authors and representatives from private and public agencies. The first roundtable explored the process behind the book’s development and how it can support the advancement of sustainability in infrastructure planning in Peru. The second roundtable focused on the ongoing process for the development of the next National Infrastructure Plan, which is expected to be published later this year.
